Hello, my name is Protima and I am a 27 year-old woman. I was born and raised in a village south of Kolkata, and lived in a small rented house together with my parents and my little brother. We were a poor family, and my father’s job was the only source of income for all of us. When I was 9 we were so poor that my family couldn’t afford to keep me in school. I therefore came to IIMC and, thanks to the financial support of an Italian family, I have obtained a Master’s Degree with honors in Bengali language.
