Clean water is vital for human health. Unfortunately for many people living in villages this represents a luxury. The water used for cooking and drinking usually comes from ponds, where village people take baths, wash dishes and clothes, cultivate fish, and where beasts are allowed to bath and drink. In addition in West Bengal the groundwater is contaminated by arsenic and the surface water is highly polluted with chemicals and bacteria. It doesn’t come as a surprise that in this context 80% of diseases are due to bad water conditions. For this reason IIMC is very keen on supplying safe water and proper latrine. In the last year (from march 2015 to march 2016) 20 latrines and 6 water pumps where constructed by the organization.
